National coffee chain pours into Austin

There's a new player in the local coffee scene.

Scooter's Coffeehouse, an Omaha-based company with more than 40 franchise locations nationwide, has opened its first shop in Austin at 9225 West Parmer Lane. The company also plans to open three additional locations this fall, including an outlet at MoPac Expressway and William Cannon Drive.

The Parmer location features 30-foot raised ceilings, a drive-through and 1,300 square feet of interior seating space. The shop offers a variety of espresso-based drinks both hot and cold, pastries, hot breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches.

"We look forward to serving our freshly roasted, premium coffee to the Austin community," says Patrick Fisher, Scooter's Texas area developer. "We're really serious about our coffee and additional Scooter's locations are in the works for the Austin area."

The company is currently looking for local owners to establish more franchise locations throughout Austin. Scooter's has 12 locations currently being developed in Texas, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, South Dakota and Arizona.
